As commercial property agents p3 understands and accepts that it has a weighty corporate and social responsibility to ensure that sustainability and the environment are taken into account in operating its property consulting business.
p3's views are based upon a general acceptance of the definition of sustainable development as development that "meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs..." and we are committed to protecting and improving the environment in all areas of the Firms operations by fostering and counselling sustainable use of resources.
p3 CSR policy ensures that environmental priorities are integrated into the decisions it takes on all its services and will, wherever and whenever possible, also seek to minimise negative environmental impacts that may arise through the activities of its client's business operations. We are for instance founder members of the Environmental & Sustainability Group advising the Kingsway Partnership in Rochdale advising on strategy and policy in relation to the planning, procurement, development, marketing and end-use of a new 3.25m sq ft business park.
Whilst p3 is very much involved in the day to day environmental debate with its clients and end-users, we also recognise the value of awakening and encouraging awareness of the issues in the minds of the scientists, politicians and business leaders of tomorrow i.e. our children.
We are therefore supporters of a number of diverse environmental projects. For example the work carried out at Keele University under the Climate Challenge Fund, where the target audiences of their ‘Science for Sustainability Project’ include school children, their parents/guardians and their teachers - promoting an understanding of the science behind climate change and renewable energy technologies, outlining the causes of climate change and how technological solutions and individual actions can reduce climate change impacts. Participants work on long term projects on energy use, recycling and renewable technologies and monitor changes in energy use at schools and at homes.
We are currently supporting the Traidhos Three Generation Barge Program based in Bangkok, Thailand. Since 1994, they have been providing high quality outdoor experiential education for children at international schools in Thailand, throughout the southeast Asia region and around the world. Their aim is to increase participants’ awareness of the importance of watersheds and the natural environment in their daily lives, to expose participants to real ecological and environmental issues in a way that leads them to adopt a more sustainable life and to expose participants to new areas of knowledge and skills, thereby inspiring them to take action in solving environmental problems.
